Coast to Coast
This trip I will be going coast to coast starting with Newfoundland. The ferry ride is about 6 1/2 hours long - give or take depending on the weather.

There aren't many roads that are not dead ends across Newfoundland and I guess I didn't do my homework very well as the rood across the southern part of Newfoundland ends with a ferry and another ferry and another ferry but the last two are foot only so I would not be able to take the van all the way. So I will go that the main highway and back track after I go to St John's. From the terminal, I drove through to Corner Brook where i stayed the night

Newfoundland is not as small as I thought - and a lot of the roads have speed limits that are 80 or less. Only the TCH is 100 - so I am able to see lots of land, water, and rocks go by slowly. It is not as hot or windy as yesterday so for a lot of the time I am driving with the windows open - nice fresh air!

I again did lots of driving (not as much as yesterday) but I also got in over 10,000 steps so I had a busy day.

Today was mostly driving with short stops - very windy and quite cool (only about 17 to 19 degrees the whole way)

A relatively short trip from St Anthony to St Barbe to catch the ferry to Labrador. Very tired so stopped a couple hours before Happy Valley Goose Bay.

Continued on to Happy Valley and then on to Churchill Falls - a leisurely day.

The first trek for the day - quick and short!

I tried to do this section separate so that I could show you how squiggly and hilly this section of the road was - hope you get the general idea!

Took a short ferry at Tadoussac - only 10 minutes long.

Short trip from Brighton to Cambridge

Started in Cambridge - took a short drive to St. Thomas; Then backtracked and went on to Sudbury.

Sudbury to Sault Saint Marie and on to Wawa and ending in White River for the night.

From White River around the northern tip of Lake Superior to Thunder Bay and on to Ignace

Back to visiting friends and family so spending less time in the van and more with other people.

Travelled the back roads to Virden - many of them were dirt roads! will stay here until Monday (Aug 18)

On my way to Calgary, Just took the TCH - will split into two days - just enjoying the ride and the scenery.

Continuing on to Calgary, the land is getting less flat and more and more there are coulees (v-shaped valleys formed by the glaciers)

We took a short trip to Cochrane to have lunch and watch Theo paly hockey.
We went to Cochrane again!

Spent the day in Kananaskis

Went to visit Aunt Martha for lunch and then back to Jon's to visit with Annie and her family

Back on the road - drove to Olds for coffee with an old friend (not that he is old just I have known him for fifty plus years although we have not met for at least 40 of them) and then on to Daysland to visit with Brandon and Jena.

a very short trip to Millet/Leduc. will stay here for the weekend

shopping in Wetaskiwin

Back on the road again - heading to BC

from Jasper to British Columbia

Through Smithers and more mountains

Got a couple days to explore around Prince Rupert - don't take the ferry until Saturday

Toured around Prince Rupert for awhile.

although the picture shows the road route - I actually went the ferry route so just imagine the route is further west and running on water not land. The only port we stopped at was Bella Bella and it was supposed to be for 40 minutes but it ended up being for more than an hour so we ended up landing in Port Hardy at almost 1 am instead of 11 pm as scheduled. Not a problem though - I loved it!

Was too late for church but I got to Duncan for lunch.
Will stay here for a few days camping in my aunt's yard.

Duncan to Koksilah

Duncan to Stoney Hill Regional Park

Went to the western coast to dip my feet in the Pacific Ocean

Tofino back to Chemainus and then Duncan

took another ferry back to the main land (Vancouver)

and on to Langley BC

Langley to Surrey and back and again the next day

Back on the road again - Langley to Vernon to Kamloops

Back to Calgary

Calgary to High River to Picture Butte to Diamond City and back to Picture Butte

Picture Butte to Lethbridge and then going east
